EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences, using your brain’s natural ability to recover. It has been shown to be extremely effective for a host of mental health diagnoses and concerns and is often more efficient than talk therapy alone.

EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. It uses bilateral stimulation, a process of using side-to-side eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones to stimulate both sides of the body. This process helps reduce the vividness and emotional intensity of the memory, allowing your brain to reprocess it into a healthier, more adaptive perspective.

Over time, EMDR helps reduce the emotional charge of past events, fostering healthier beliefs, emotional balance, and resilience. While EMDR is often a more efficient modality, it’s not a quick fix; your healing journey is uniquely paced based on your own individual needs.

If you’re interested in starting EMDR therapy, we’ll guide you gently through each stage—from planning and preparation to deep healing. Clients often leave sessions feeling both relief and empowerment, as they learn new ways to respond to old wounds.
